What an eventful 2010

I would like to take this opportunity to sum up the happenings in the last 4 months and wrap up an outstanding start on TRIZ in Malaysia.

Create a sharing platform
In October this year, we organized the inaugural Malaysia TRIZ Conference. 160 participants from universities, industry and government agencies attended the 3 day event. Beside the locals, we have 20 participants from 9 regional countries namely Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The conference featured an impressive lined up of speakers from International TRIZ Association, Society of Systematic Innovation Taiwan, Industrial Taiwan Research Institute, Intel, Samsung, POSCO, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Taylor’s University and MIMOS.

We have received many positive feedbacks. Thanks to all who were involved in successfully organizing the event. Hope we have generated the enthusiasm locally to systematically accelerate the nation’s growth and made an impact into the global map of TRIZ usage in South East Asia. The presentations and pictures can be downloaded from

Create a national platform
At the conference, we took the opportunity to publicly launch the Malaysia TRIZ Innovation Association. The launch was witnessed by Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, the Chairman of the Multimedia Development Corporation.

Beside the public launch, another significant milestone was the official handover of the Malaysia TRIZ Innovation Association registration certificate by Registrar of Society Malaysia on 11th October 2010.

Create a learning platform
Our journey to proliferate the TRIZ knowledge continues with another Level 1 TRIZ Train-the-Trainer class conducted for 37 lecturers from UTM on 1 & 2 November 2010. The last class for the year ended with the Level 2 class organized for 25 TRIZ practitioners on 20 & 21 December 2010 at MMU. The momentum to train the trainer has built up very well. We aim to train a sizeable pool of TRIZ trainers next year to reach the next level of TRIZ teaching and usage.

As I reflect on the strategies that MyTRIZ have embarked on, they have been well implemented. On the one level so much was achieved over the past nine months, but on another level the journey is only at the early stage and more is needed to be done for the community and nation. We look forward to your continued support.

With this, I would like to inform you that we will be organizing the Malaysia TRIZ Innovation Association Annual General Meeting on 15th March 2011 from 2-4p.m. Block your calendar now for the general meeting. Venue will be at Cyberjaya. I encourage all of you to attend the AGM.

Happy New Year.

Dr TS Yeoh, MyTRIZ President
